HIGHWAY PATROL
Guestbook - 2020

Me-TV is now running Highway Patrol at 5 AM, then 2 episodes of Dragnet. These shows go great together. If only they'd throw in M Squad as well.
Happy New Year to Gary and Glenn, thanks and a tip of the hat - tip, tip - to both for their work in keeping up this site.
I hope some day that Broderick Crawford takes you both for a spin in that big black & white police cruiser in the sky.

Rest in peace, Stuart Whitman, aka Sgt. Walters. He was 92. Was he the last surviving cast member?

Dear Gary Goltz,
I wish to express my sincere appreciation for all, and I mean everything, that you have done to preserve, honor, and charitably contribute, with your Buick and Highway Patrol TV series. Every day I watch several episodes, return to viewing "The Star and the Car", and simply marvel at your accomplishments for good. Yes, I am a fellow Pittsburgher, grew up in Monroeville, and lived with my wife and children on Forbes Avenue...just a quick stroll down to Murray Avenue. Certainly you have made me a lifetime fan of the Highway Patrol TV series and you as the living legend continuing to carry the fire. Thank you so much !

I'm 65 years old and grew up watching the show! I became a Chicago Police Officer, inspired by Highway Patrol! It was one of my favorite cop shows! I'm retired now, living in Texas. I still watch the show on Youtube. I watch it over and over! :-) The show will go on forever. Thank you for the website and the opportunity to reminisce! God Bless!

Just looked at the upcoming episodes on MeTV. They are not airing Psycho, Motorcycle B, or Stripped Cars. Disappointed but not surprised. They usually skip over these episodes. I wish another network would air this show and include Broderick Crawford's closing remarks. I first got hooked on this show when it aired on This TV. They showed all the episodes in their entirety.

Hello!!! Yes, I'm a "first generation" fan of Highway Patrol, watching the original 1956- 59 broadcasts. "Chief Dan Mathews" reminded me of my Dad. BTW,I met Tom "Shotgun" Kelly of K-Earth FM back in 2002 in Pasadena. Being a pop culture fan of all things mid-century, I'm also a big fan of many other productions. The one thing I always wanted to know is where did the Set Decorators such as Bruce MacDonald get those "western" paintings used in quite a few of those interior shots? They look a lot like the works of John Datu Arensma who was the Art Director for the iconic "Red River" John Wayne film directed by Howard Hawks. I have a feeling this artist John Datu Arensma created many "stock" pictures for Property Masters inventory. He was also a friend of Raymond Burr, and was quite a prolific artist. I own three of his paintings. Could I get some info from Bruce (hoping he's still with us) or anyone in your group or yourself to correspond with me? I'd greatly appreciate it. Yes, I own DVDs of the entire 4 years.

Love the show. Discovered it via the discount DVD bin. Streaming tv has brought me many more episodes and your video, as well as your book which I just ordered.

This morning MeTV ran Highway Patrol episode"Convicted Innocent".
The cop at HQ puts out a APB describing the getaway car from a gas station robbery, before the witness on the phone even describes the car in question.

What is the point of posting the below, it's either lines off an eye chart
or the Cyrillic alphabet. Whom here do you think can read it? Shall I post in Latin? If you are Putin and posted it here it's time to lay off the sauce, that vodka will kill you tovarishch.

Right you are Gary, he would do to Putin what he did to Sinatra, yank his
wig off and eat it!

I was totally taken back by seeing your video about Highway Patrol. I am presently in my 45th. year serving as a Deputy Sheriff. Like you as I child 5 years of age I would watch Highway Patrol every morning at my Baby Sitters house. She would give me a glass of milk and what became known as my Highway Patrol cookies with each episode. It was at that age I would tell everyone I was going to be a Police Officer like Mr. Crawford. In High School I became the 1st. Police Cadet at Easley P.D. then when I turned 21 was sworn in as a Police Officer. One of the sadest times in my live was in 1981 when my house burnt to the ground and I lost all my Highway Patrol Memorabilla. I just want to thank you for making the video which brought back a ton of fun memories from my childhood. I hope to one day to meet you in person to personally thank you !

Gary,
In your photo section, the toy squad car from England with Broderick painted
on the window? I never noticed it before, and when I took a close look I realized I had that toy when I was a little kid in 1963, it was a hand me down from my brother and I loved it. I didn't know of the tie in with the show as it was on past my bedtime and I couldn't read of course.
Can you tell me anything about it, please?
It's been buried in our old backyard in LaGrange, Illinois for almost 60 years now.

it's from the UK as are many of the toys in my collection. They are all pictured on the website and covered in our book...

Hello Gary,
Just watched your show on You Tube. Loved it! I was born in Los Angeles in 1947 and just like you, grew up watching all those great TV shows. Highway Patrol was the best. Today, I am Senior Volunteer with the CHP out of the West Los Angeles office. Thank you for your great video. 10-4
